Burlington panel OKs wording on Moran project referendum
January 9, 2008
The future of the Moran plant likely will appear on the Town Meeting Day ballot
in March.
The Burlington City Council's Parks, arts and Culture Committee, met before the regular council meeting Monday and unanimously approved the language for the advisory referendum on the remodeling plan proposed by Mayor Bob Kiss for the Moran plant.
The question reads: "Shall the City of Burlington be advised to move forward on the proposal to renovate and redevelop the Moran Plant to include an indoor ice and rock climbing facility; children's museum; outdoor ice skating rink; splash water park; public park; cafe and restaurant; new skateboard park; observation deck and the retention of the Community Sailing Center, with the understanding that voters will have an opportunity in the future to approve any financing that would alter individual property tax rates?"
Committee member Paul Decelles, R-Ward
7, said the full council will vote Jan. 22 on the committee's recommendation.
