In November 2009, the GMCM Board of Directors voted to discontinue GMCM’s involvement in the discussions to re-develop the former Moran Plant on Burlington’s waterfront. GMCM volunteers have been working with various commercial real estate brokers to explore other opportunities.
Our efforts have included advocating for permitting in areas of the city that haven’t allowed children’s museums in the past. The board is also evaluating the size of the space needed to open. One of our key objectives continues to be meeting the needs of the community while being aligned with the economic climate. We are committed to operating a children’s museum that preserves play, celebrates diversity, enhances education, and strengthens the economy.
